Building pi-Stomp / 64-Bit Bookworm Build?
« on: March 10, 2024, 01:00:13 PM »
Not sure if this belongs here, or in the Hacking forum?

Any way, I have an RPi4 with a fresh install of Bookworm and decided I'd install the piStomp code on it.  Following the directions on the "software_installation_64-bit" page (like I did with Bullseye), I ran into some issues with the new "externally-managed-environment" set-up.  I was able to install a number of the required Python packages using apt, but not all are available.

So, before I start manually pre-installing the remaining packages with the "--break-system-packages" flag, or delete "/usr/lib/python3.11/EXTERNALLY-MANAGED", has there been any official progress, or an official build tree I can work with? My preference would be to make the changes in the v2 code and have it pushed forward to the v3 code, but I understand if there's no real need to update the v2 code with the v3 hardware set coming out.

Building pi-Stomp / Ribbon Cables & Heatsinks
« on: September 28, 2022, 02:20:41 PM »
I've started planning my Frankenstein's Combo Amp (replacing the guts of an old Crate Two-Tone with a pi-Stomp) and realized I need to spread things out a bit. I saw the section on top-mounting/using a ribbon-cable with the LCD, but can I do the same with the main board the the GPIO connector on the RPi4? The idea is to mount the RPi4 at the back of the case to be able to access the ports.

Also, in the default stacked configuration, is there space for any heatsinks on the RPi4 board?

Using pi-Stomp / Using a USB (or PiSound) Audio Interface?
« on: September 20, 2022, 06:52:04 PM »
I have an RPi4 that was setup to use the MODEP code, but their codebase is all 32-bit and light on plugins. The new 64-bit (beta) piStomp script & code seems a better choice; however, I don't have any of the preconfigured PiHats. What I do have is a PreSonus USB interface can that be used? Is it an automatic configuration, or simply a JACK configuration?

I also have a PiSOUND hat, but I'd rather not deal with installing it's drivers, etc. for this initial stab at the piStomp codebase.

Hacking pi-Stomp / Using a IQaudio DigiAMP+?
« on: September 20, 2022, 11:25:32 AM »
I'm looking replacing the guts of an old combo amp with a pi-Stomp.  Is the IQaudio DigiAMP+ code compatible with the IQaudio Codec Zero?

I know the physical arrangement will have to be different, but I'm going to have to do that anyway to fit into the combo amp chassis.

Hacking pi-Stomp / Using the RPi "Official" 7" Touchscreen?
« on: June 02, 2022, 03:21:13 AM »
Has anybody looked at using the official RPI 7" touchscreen instead of the default LCD hat/shield? Is the code that manages the display easily accessible, so it can be modified to run on a different screen?
