Build for acoustic guitars

Most audio cards do not use all the GPIO pins even though they connect to them all.  The AudioInjector Zero and Stereo cards use:
i2c lines : pins 3 and 5
i2s lines : 12, 35, 38, 40
5v+3.3v power and gnd lines
pins 2,4,17 and all the ground pins (though only one is required)

Stating the obvious here, but just because you can connect something to the GPIO pins, doesn't mean it'll just start doing what you expect it to.  You should be ready to do some coding.  You might be able to pilfer some of that from the pi-Stomp code or find snippets online for support of the specific hardware pieces you're adding.

It's what I meant by "seems to be difficult" after a quick overview, I 'll check the options with free pins and probably go to the easiest.

if you end up spending a lot on additional parts. I think the Pistomp core would just be a better way to go, and mount all the switches and nobs the way you prefer. It really depends on the overall cost.

The benefit from a noob (like me) to use the Pistomp core board is HUGE. I can just add whatever types of potentiometers, buttons, nobs that I want and there practically automatically functioning.  Plus the Pistomp core already has a navigation rotary nob with a center push button.. that alone is enough to navigate.

The Pi stomp core kit is clearly the easiest way to make it real.
But it seems overkill for a build without screen. I don't see in yours either btw. Joysticks go by GPIO which are the best solution to add controls easy to access without damages on the guitar's front.
and your build is HUGE agreed, in mine I add a powerbank and a traditionnal preamp, so lighter for the rest should be better
Some analog control for volume at least but if can do the same with something lighter IN GPIO, even usb (thought about disassemble a gamepad)

But I want to ask U about the sound, do you try overdrive/distortion ? I'm affraid of mic captures the end sound from top/desk vibrating with the speaker and create a noisy loop.

I am building (with Randals guidance) v2 of the acoustic variant.
It will be super simple. the hard part is the case selection and design.
