Hello
Apparently there is no indication of the bypass status.
It would be really nice to have a visual feedback on screen.

Agreed.  The original pi-Stomp always had an LED halo on footswitch1 for that, but pi-Stomp Core doesn't pre-suppose any LED's.

Not that this is a solution, but until we get that indicator, you can play a chord and adjust the volume control.  If the volume changes, processing is engaged.

For tracking this issue, I filed: https://github.com/TreeFallSound/pi-stomp/issues/10

Yep, that's pretty much what I'm doing for now.

I do have plenty of ideas, not necessarly good ones.
Should I post here or directly on github ?

Randall (Admin)

You've given lots of good feedback so far.  I've known about each one, but hearing that something is bothering someone else puts an extra fire under my ass.   :D

So yeah, feel free to file issues on github.  That'll make them more trackable.

jkrafft

Great!
But I don't want you to feel pressured about it. It's all cool, you've put up a great piece of gear and software.
It's all fun and experimentations, plus my mega 400+ dates world tour won't start until the end of the global pandemic, so, no rush...

I'm about to file a few issues (just a few) and feature ideas (about 13 thousand) on github.
Maybe the forum could be a kind of filter before getting to github or it doesn't matter ?

Randall (Admin)

Yeah, the pandemic has put the kibosh on my world tour too.  At least we can still make great music in our bedrooms.

I really, super, mega appreciate your feedback.  There have been about 45 pi-Stomp builds now, and although I'm certain that most of them have been successful, only a small handful of builders have given suggestions on how it can improve.  IMO, that's one of the great things about a platform like this, it can change and improve in major ways driven by the builders/users.

So yeah, I welcome any/all suggestions.  If it might help triage them in one big forum posting, that's fine too.  If you're a programmer type, I'm game to help you to get started on your own fixes/enhancements as well.

The latest commit includes a bypass/processing icon on the new LCD "toolbar".  It looks like a power indicator and glows green when processing and gray when bypassed.   The mode (bypassed or processing) can be toggled by rotating the encoder until the icon is highlighted then clicking.  It can also be toggled, as it always has, by long-pressing a footswitch with the "bypass" attribute set in pi-stomp/pistomp/default_config.yml

Yes !
Looks good, works great !
Thanks.

And now we can also see iwhat wifi mode it's in, that's great.
Now I woudl have gone to make the wifi icon selectable to directly select the wifi mode from the icon, but otherwise it's a great addition !
Also, always leave room for improvements ;-)
