I've been thinking of ways to reduce the thickness of the stack of boards that comprise a pi-stomp. The goal being to use a thinner extruded aluminum enclosure (for example:

In this scenario the Pi would connect on the right side of the thinner board sandwich. This would eliminate an entire layer of the board sandwich and reduce the total thickness by a third-ish? Will this work?
