Building pi-Stomp / New version?
« on: January 20, 2023, 11:08:37 AM »
Is there a new version of the main board on the way that supports Pi 4s? Is there a timeline for availability? I'd like to buy a kit but not if a new one is right around the corner.

Building pi-Stomp / Using the Pimoroni Flat HAT Hacker
« on: December 07, 2022, 09:08:28 PM »
I've been thinking of ways to reduce the thickness of the stack of boards that comprise a pi-stomp. The goal being to use a thinner extruded aluminum enclosure (for example: https://www.hammfg.com/files/parts/pdf/1455P2201BK.pdf) Here's the hacky part. I want to use a Flat HAT Hacker (https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/flat-hat-hacker)with a 90 degree header on the Pi (removing the original straight header). In this scenario the Pi would connect on the right side of the thinner board sandwich. This would eliminate an entire layer of the board sandwich and reduce the total thickness by a third-ish? Will this work?

Building pi-Stomp / Incorporating other hardware
« on: September 27, 2021, 12:11:53 PM »
In one of the videos for Pi-Stomp Core you mention using a Pi 4 or a HiFiBerry board.

1. Is there any advantage to using a Pi 4? More RAM with longer effect chains?
1a. Does the length of a Pi 4 interfere with the panel placement of the 1/4 inch TRS sockets?

2. What advantage would there be to using the HiFiBerry instead of the stock sound card?
2a. Would the optional DSP unit for the HiFiBerry be supported by the MODEP/Pi-Stomp software?

Thanks!
